Even though my skin is usually combination, winter turns it into a completely different story—tight, flaky, and begging for moisture.
Over time, I tested plenty of products to figure out what truly makes a difference. A balanced routine is key: hydrating ingredients to replenish and gentle actives to keep your skin smooth.
With so many products on the market, it can be overwhelming to know what’s actually worth investing in, but here’s what genuinely helped me restore moisture and comfort.
Serums – Glow Recipe + The Ordinary
Hydrating serums are the backbone of my winter routine. These formulas layer well, boost moisture levels, and help the skin feel plumper throughout the day. Using a combination of lightweight hydration and deeper-acting serums gives the skin exactly what it’s craving.
Exfoliants – Paula’s Choice
A gentle liquid exfoliant keeps dry patches from building up. It smooths the texture without irritating, allowing moisturizers and serums to sink in more effectively. It’s a subtle step, but it makes a huge difference in how well everything else works.
Hydration – Aquaphor + Laneige
To finish, I lock everything in with slugging products. Whether it’s Aquaphor, a rich mask, or a thick night cream, this step seals in hydration overnight so I wake up with softer, calmer skin. It’s especially useful during the coldest months.
Dry winter skin can be frustrating, but the right combination of hydrating serums, gentle exfoliation, and a rich final layer can completely transform it. Building a routine that nourishes and protects makes all the difference. Let me know if you want suggestions for winter-safe cleansers or face oils next!
