Highlighter is one of those small steps that can quietly change the whole mood of a makeup look. I didn’t really care about it at first, but once I started paying attention, I realized how much difference that soft glow makes—not in a dramatic way, but in how “alive” the skin looks.
Two that I keep coming back to are Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter. They don’t give the same effect at all, and that’s what makes switching between them interesting.
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter
This one feels a bit more playful in spirit. The texture is smooth but has a slightly more noticeable shimmer compared to softer highlighters. When it hits the skin, it doesn’t just give a glow—it adds a bit of sparkle that catches light in different ways depending on the angle. I usually use it when I want my makeup to feel a bit more expressive, especially for evenings or when I’m doing a slightly bolder look.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter
This one is much softer and more refined. The glow it gives is smoother, almost like the skin naturally reflects light rather than being highlighted. When I use it, everything looks more blended and seamless. There’s no obvious sparkle—just a soft radiance that sits close to the skin. I tend to reach for this on days when I want my makeup to look polished but understated.
What stands out most between these two is the mood they create. Fenty Killawatt feels a bit more expressive, like it adds personality to the look. Becca feels more quiet and refined, almost like it’s just enhancing what’s already there. One isn’t better than the other—it really depends on how visible I want that glow to be.
