Hi Lykkers! You know that one makeup product that quietly becomes part of your routine without you even realizing it? For me, that's lip liner. There was a time when I thought lip liner was optional, but now I rarely do my makeup without it. It helps define my lips, makes lipstick last longer, and honestly pulls the whole look together.
Lately, I've been reaching for two lip liners on repeat. One is a little more luxurious, while the other is one of the best affordable beauty finds I've come across. Despite the huge price difference, both have earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag.
1. Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Liner – Rosy Brown ($22)
This lip liner is what I reach for when I want that effortless "my lips but better" look. The shade Rosy Brown is the perfect balance between pink and brown, making it incredibly flattering and easy to wear. Whenever I'm unsure which lip color to pair with my makeup, this is usually my safe choice.
One thing I immediately noticed was how creamy the formula feels. It glides across the lips smoothly without tugging or skipping, making application quick and easy. I can wear it on its own with a lip balm or pair it with a lipstick for a more polished look. What I love most is how natural it looks. Instead of creating a harsh outline, it blends beautifully into my lip color and adds subtle definition. It's become one of those products I can use without even thinking because it works with almost everything.
2. e.l.f. Cream Glide Lip Liner – Mauve Aside ($2)
Every once in a while, I come across a budget product that completely exceeds my expectations, and this lip liner is one of them. Considering the price, I wasn't expecting much at first. But after using it, I quickly understood why so many people love it.
The shade Mauve Aside is a gorgeous muted mauve that adds just enough color to define the lips while still looking natural. It's especially beautiful for everyday makeup because it complements a wide range of lipstick and gloss shades. The formula is surprisingly smooth and easy to work with. It applies evenly, blends well, and doesn't feel dry on the lips. Honestly, if someone handed me this without telling me the price, I would have guessed it cost much more than $2.
These two lip liners may sit at completely different price points, but they both deliver beautiful results. The Tarte liner feels luxurious, creamy, and universally flattering, while the e.l.f. liner proves that great makeup doesn't have to be expensive. If I had to choose based on value alone, e.l.f. would be incredibly hard to beat. But if I'm treating myself and want that perfect rosy-brown shade, Tarte continues to be one of my favorites.
