My Current Cleansers!

A good cleanser can make or break a skincare routine. I've learned that no matter how many serums or moisturizers I use, if my cleanser leaves my skin feeling stripped or irritated, the rest of my routine just doesn't feel the same.
Recently, I've been using two very different cleansers, and they've given me completely different experiences.

1. Lancôme Clarifique Cleanser ($42)

I recently started using this cleanser, and honestly, I'm still undecided about it. The formula transforms from a milky texture into a foam, which sounds luxurious, but personally, milk-to-foam cleansers have never been my favorite. I tend to prefer gel cleansers that feel a bit fresher on my skin.
One thing I noticed right away is that my skin feels slightly tight after cleansing. It's not overly drying or uncomfortable, but it's definitely not the hydrated feeling I usually look for in a face wash.
That being said, I do appreciate how gentle it feels during cleansing. It doesn't irritate my skin or leave it feeling harsh, and the formula feels quite refined and elegant. While it hasn't become a favorite yet, I'm still giving it a fair chance to see if my opinion changes over time.

2. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel ($18–$22)

This cleanser has completely earned its spot as my current favorite. I've gone through multiple bottles, which says a lot because I rarely repurchase skincare products unless I truly love them. Every time I use it, my skin feels thoroughly cleansed without feeling stripped or overly dry.
What I love most is how balanced it feels. It removes dirt, excess oil, and even leftover makeup while still keeping my skin comfortable. Instead of leaving my face feeling tight, it leaves it looking fresh, clean, and surprisingly radiant. I've also noticed that my skin tends to look brighter and healthier after cleansing with it. For a foaming cleanser, it's impressively gentle and doesn't disrupt my skin barrier.
I've realized that finding the right cleanser isn't just about removing dirt and makeup. It's about how your skin feels afterward. A cleanser can be effective, but if it leaves your skin feeling stripped, it probably isn't the best fit for your routine. For now, the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel remains my favorite, and it'll take something pretty impressive to replace it.
