Welcome, Lykkers! I used to think a hair brush was just... a hair brush. As long as it could get through my tangled hair without snapping in half, I was satisfied.
Then one day I realized not all brushes are created equal, especially when you're dealing with post-shower knots that somehow feel stronger than your will to live.
These are the two brushes I've been reaching for lately, and surprisingly, they each have their own personality.
1. Watsons Wet Dry Hair Brush
This is the brush that lives a very hardworking life in my routine. Fresh out of the shower? It handles it. Hair slightly tangled after a long day? It handles that too. What I appreciate most is how straightforward it is. No learning curve, no special technique. I just start brushing and somehow my hair looks more presentable within minutes.
The bristles feel flexible enough that I'm not wincing every time I hit a knot. Instead of turning brushing into a battle, it feels more like gently persuading my hair to cooperate.
2. Tangle Teezer Mini Wet Detangler
This little thing is much smaller than it looks online, but don't underestimate it. The first time I used it, I was genuinely surprised by how smoothly it moved through damp hair. Instead of pulling at tangles, it seemed to work around them. Because it's compact, it usually ends up in my bag whenever I'm traveling. I've taken it on weekend trips, tossed it into tote bags, and somehow it always earns its spot. There's also something oddly satisfying about using it.
My hair feels less stressed afterward, and I notice fewer strands wrapped around the brush compared to some of my older ones.
A few years ago, I would've laughed at the idea of having a favorite hair brush. Now I completely understand it. One stays on my vanity, ready for the chaos of everyday hair days. The other follows me around like a tiny travel essential I didn't know I needed. Who knew the secret to fewer hair struggles wasn't a fancy hair product—but a brush that actually understands the assignment?
