Do you know, Lykkers? I have different moods for perfume. Some mornings call for something polished and familiar, while other days I want a scent that makes me feel like I actually made an effort, even if the rest of my outfit is incredibly simple.
CHANEL N°5 Eau de Parfum and Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum sit on completely different sides of my fragrance shelf, and that contrast is exactly why I enjoy both.

1. CHANEL N°5 Eau de Parfum

CHANEL N°5 has that unmistakable old-school elegance that never feels like it is trying too hard. The scent opens with aldehydic freshness before settling into a rich floral heart, with notes such as jasmine and rose giving it a soft, sophisticated character. I picture wearing it with a clean blouse, neat hair, and maybe a little lipstick. It has that dressed-up quality, but I don’t think I need an actual special occasion to wear it. Sometimes spraying it before heading out for dinner is enough to make an ordinary evening feel slightly more glamorous.

2. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum

Baccarat Rouge 540 takes me in a completely different direction. I’d reach for it when I want my perfume to be noticed without constantly thinking about it. It doesn’t feel like a simple floral perfume to me. This is the kind of scent I imagine wearing with a sleek outfit for an evening out.
Having both fragrances around makes me realize how much my perfume choice depends on the mood I want to create. CHANEL N°5 Eau de Parfum feels elegant, classic, and beautifully put together. Baccarat Rouge 540 feels warmer, more modern, and a little more mysterious. One makes me think of timeless glamour; the other has that rich, almost glowing quality I associate with evening plans.
