Welcome, Lykkers! Foundation is definitely one of those makeup products that always feels like a work in progress. What works for my skin can change with the weather, the season, and even how my skin is behaving that week.

I have oily, acne-prone skin, but winter is a little different because my skin gets lighter and noticeably drier. Because of that, finding a foundation that can keep up with all those changes has become its own little journey.

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation — $50

This is easily one of my favorites. A friend with dry skin actually recommended it to me, which made me curious because I have oily skin, but it ended up working really well for me too. I love that the coverage is flexible. It can be built up when I want more coverage, or sheered out to give more of a natural, skin-tint-like finish. It is definitely pricier, but foundation is one of the products I'm willing to spend more on.

Saie Glowy Super Skin — $40

I hadn't tried any Saie face products before this one, so I was honestly just excited to give it a shot. So far, I really love it. It's still too new in my routine for me to call it my number-one foundation, but I've been reaching for it even more than my NARS lately. One thing that really impressed me was how it held up during a zoo trip. I wore it all day, and it still looked good without turning cakey. For something with a glowy finish, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it lasted on my skin.

Chantecaille Future Skin — $89

Okay, this one hurts the wallet. I haven't worn it enough to give a completely fair review because of that $89 price tag, but the times I've used it, I've really enjoyed the finish. Part of the reason I wanted to try it was because it's one of the foundations associated with Euphoria, and I love that show. It definitely feels like more of a splurge than an everyday foundation for me, though. I need to wear it more before deciding whether the formula is worth that very hefty price.

Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin Foundation — $42

I know so many people love this foundation, which makes my experience with it even more disappointing. I just cannot seem to make it work for my skin. I'm not sure whether my oily skin is the issue, but the foundation breaks down pretty quickly on me. After a couple of hours, I can already see areas where the foundation has disappeared completely. I've considered trying it with the Makeup by Mario foundation brush to see whether application makes a difference, but I'm still unsure.

Right now, NARS Light Reflecting Foundation and Saie Glowy Super Skin are the two I'm enjoying the most. NARS has already proven itself in my routine, while Saie is the newer one that has been surprisingly exciting to use. I definitely want to keep testing Saie, especially since it's still so new to me, but for now, both are getting plenty of wear.
