Friends, there is something satisfying about finishing a nighttime routine with a few drops of face oil. I like the way it gives skincare a more comforting, finished feeling, especially when my skin starts looking dull or feeling tight.
Still, not every face oil serves the same purpose. Some are all about nourishment, while others bring extra ingredients into the mix for a more treatment-focused routine.
1. Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil
Farmacy Honey Grail is the one I picture reaching for when my skin is craving extra softness. The formula has a rich, nourishing character that works particularly well as the final step of an evening routine. I would use a few drops over moisturizer rather than pouring on a generous amount. There is no prize for having an extremely oily face before bed. A small amount can be enough to give the complexion a more supple-looking finish.
2. Summer Fridays Heavenly Sixteen All-In-One Face Oil
Summer Fridays Heavenly Sixteen has a more versatile feel. The name comes from its blend of 16 oils, giving it a nourishing profile without making the product feel like a one-purpose treatment. I like having an oil that can fit into different moments. A couple of drops can be mixed into moisturizer, pressed onto the skin at night, or used when my complexion needs a little extra glow. It feels particularly appealing for those “my skin looks tired today” moments when I want something simple.
3. MARA Evening Primrose + Green Tea Algae Retinol Face Oil
MARA takes the most treatment-focused approach of the three. Evening primrose, green tea, algae, and retinol make this more interesting to me when skincare goals extend beyond basic nourishment. I would reserve it for nighttime and introduce it slowly because retinol deserves a little respect. There is no reason to rush into frequent use, particularly when the rest of the routine already contains active ingredients.
For me, face oil works best as a supporting character rather than the entire skincare routine. A few thoughtful drops can add that final touch without turning bedtime skincare into a slippery experiment.
