Acne Spot Treatments

Welcome, Lykkers! Some stubborn breakouts need a little more help than an acne patch can provide. When a pimple stays raised and refuses to settle, I like having a stronger treatment ready for those nights.
Two products I’ve been reaching for are Differin Adapalene Gel and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo. Both are potent options, but they work differently enough that I have a clear favorite.
1. Differin Adapalene Gel Acne Treatment
Differin contains adapalene, a topical retinoid commonly used for acne. I keep this for breakouts that seem persistent rather than using it casually on every spot. A very thin layer is enough, and I prefer applying it at night so it has time to settle before bed. Some stubborn spots need repeated use, so I wouldn’t expect every pimple to disappear overnight.
2. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Acne Treatment
Out of the two, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is the one I use more often. I like reaching for it when an acne patch hasn’t done much and the breakout is still raised. I apply a light layer before bed and give it some time to dry down. By morning, the redness can still be there, but I often notice that the bump looks much flatter. For particularly stubborn spots, a few nights may be needed.
Both treatments have a stronger feel, so I prefer using a small amount rather than piling product onto a breakout. Acne patches still have their place in my routine, but when a spot remains bumpy and needs extra attention, these are the two I reach for.
