The finished effect is bold but still wearable, which makes this one easy to pull out for both everyday makeup and a more done-up look.

2. M.A.C. MacStack Mascara

The formula is buildable, so one coat can look fairly clean while additional layers create much more drama. That flexibility is what makes it fun. I don't always want the same lash look, and being able to keep adding layers without immediately giving up on the result is a big plus. It gives the lashes that lifted, fuller appearance that makes even simple makeup look more finished.

3. Milani Highly Rated Anti-Gravity Mascara

Milani deserves more attention for Highly Rated Anti-Gravity Mascara. The name is pretty accurate because the formula is all about giving lashes a lifted, more open appearance. I like it when my eyes need a little extra definition but I’m not in the mood for false lashes. The brush helps separate the lashes while building noticeable volume. And considering Milani is usually much easier on the wallet than high-end mascara, it’s a particularly tempting find.

4. e.l.f. Lash 'N Roll Mascara

e.l.f. Lash 'N Roll is such an easy everyday mascara. The curved brush helps catch the lashes and gives them a lifted effect without making the application feel like precision surgery. I’d use this for a softer makeup day when I want my lashes to look longer and more defined but not overly dramatic.

Honestly, I can see why all four have their fans. Rare Beauty brings volume, M·A·CStack is made for building drama, Milani gives that lifted effect, and e.l.f. keeps things easy and affordable. Now I’m curious—what’s the most underrated mascara you swear by?
