Foundations are one of those makeup products that really tell a story over time.
Some of these have been with me for years, while others are newer additions to my collection. My skin has changed through different seasons, breakouts, and dry phases, so these ratings come from real wear, not just first impressions. Let’s go through them one by one!
1. Summer Fridays Skin Tint — 10/10
This skin tint is the definition of effortless makeup. The texture is very lightweight and fluid, and once applied, it truly looks like real skin. It doesn’t mask everything, so texture and marks are still visible, but in a very natural way. I love it on days when I want my complexion to look fresh, soft, and healthy without feeling like I’m wearing much at all.
2. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter — 9.5/10
This product has earned its hype for a reason. The formula is light and luminous, giving the skin a beautiful glow that never crosses into looking oily. I use it alone for a subtle radiance or under foundation for extra brightness. My only downside is the packaging, which tends to look worn over time, but the product inside remains a favorite.
3. Makeup by Mario Foundation — 7/10
I had high expectations for this one, and while it has strengths, it does require extra effort. The coverage is impressive and does a great job of covering blemishes and marks. However, it can emphasize dry areas and crease if the skin isn’t prepped well. When applied correctly, it performs nicely, but it’s not the most forgiving formula in my collection.
4. Dior Backstage Foundation — 8.5/10
This foundation holds a special place for me since it was my first. The consistency is thin and easy to blend, giving a smooth, skin-like finish. The shade range is excellent, which makes finding a match much easier. It does have a noticeable scent, so it may not suit everyone, and during colder months it can feel a bit drying on my skin.
5. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk — 10/10
This foundation completely lives up to its reputation. It feels incredibly lightweight while still offering beautiful coverage. The balance between fluid and creamy makes it easy to apply and blend seamlessly. A small amount goes a long way, and the finish looks refined, natural, and polished every time I wear it.
Each foundation in my collection serves a different purpose depending on my skin’s needs and the look I’m going for. From barely-there skin tints to full-coverage options, these products have all earned their place in my routine. Overall, Luminous Silk and the Summer Fridays Skin Tint stand out as my top favorites for how effortlessly they enhance the skin.
