Perfume That Stays!

Wearing perfume is one of my favorite finishing touches, but nothing is more disappointing than a fragrance fading after just a few hours—especially when it’s a splurge.
Over time, I picked up a simple layering trick that seriously improves how long a scent lasts on the skin. It’s easy, effective, and makes every perfume feel worth it!
1. Start with an Unscented Moisturizer
Hydrated skin holds fragrance better, which is why this step matters so much. Using a rich, unscented body butter creates the perfect base without competing with your perfume. Well-moisturized skin helps fragrance oils cling rather than disappear, allowing the scent to stay noticeable for much longer.
2. Add a Petroleum-Based Ointment
This step takes longevity to the next level. A thin layer of a petroleum-based ointment helps “lock in” the fragrance and slows down evaporation. Think of it as sealing the scent in place. It’s especially helpful for areas where perfume tends to fade quickly.
3. Apply Perfume to Pulse Points—No Rubbing
Pulse points naturally emit warmth, which helps fragrance develop and project throughout the day. Spraying perfume on the wrists, neck, or behind the ears works best. Let the scent dry naturally—rubbing can break down the fragrance structure and cause it to fade faster.
A long-lasting perfume isn’t just about the fragrance itself—it’s about how you apply it. This simple layering method helps scents stay richer, stronger, and noticeable from morning to night. Once you try it, you’ll never spray perfume the same way again.
