Great Day, Lykkers! I used to think toner pads and regular toners were basically the same thing—just different packaging.
After using both for a while, I realized they actually give pretty different experiences, even if they're meant to do the same step in a skincare routine.
Both are usually applied right after cleansing, but choosing between them often comes down to convenience, storage, and personal preference.
1. Toner Pads
I'll be honest, toner pads make me feel a little lazier in the best way possible. Everything is already soaked and ready to use, so I just grab a pad and swipe it across my face. No pouring, no cotton pads, no accidentally spilling toner everywhere. On busy mornings, that's a huge win.
Another thing I like is that most toner pads have two different sides. The textured side can help gently remove leftover buildup, while the smoother side feels great when I leave it on certain areas for a few minutes like a quick mini mask.
The downside? The containers can be pretty bulky. They take up more room on my skincare shelf compared to a standard toner bottle. I also find myself keeping an eye on how many pads are left because once they're gone, they're gone.
Regular Toners
There's something classic about a regular toner bottle. I like that they usually come in slimmer packaging, making them easier to store and travel with. Depending on the size, a bottle can also last surprisingly long. What I enjoy most is the flexibility. Some days I'll pour toner into my hands and pat it directly onto my skin. Other times I'll soak a few cotton pads and use them like a quick toner mask.
That said, regular toners can get a little messy. I've definitely had moments where I poured out more product than I intended or accidentally spilled some while rushing through my routine.
Honestly, I don't think one is better than the other. When I want something quick, easy, and mess-free, toner pads are my first choice. If I'm trying to get the most value out of my skincare or want more flexibility in how I apply it, I usually reach for a regular toner. Lately, I've been keeping both in my routine because they each have their own strengths. Some skincare decisions are complicated, but this one really comes down to what fits your lifestyle.
