Mascara is my favorite little finishing move when my eye makeup needs a bit more definition. A few careful strokes can make my lashes look lifted, fuller, or simply more noticeable.
Lancôme and Clinique take different approaches, so I like thinking about the result I want before reaching for the wand.

1. Lancôme Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting Volumizing Mascara

The Lancôme Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting Volumizing Mascara is the one I associate with a lifted, more open-looking lash effect. Its name says plenty about the intended direction: length, lift, and volume all come into play. I start right at the base of my upper lashes, gently wiggling the wand before pulling it upward. That first pass separates the lashes, while a second coat can build more impact.
I pay extra attention to the outer lashes because emphasizing that area can give my eye makeup a more elongated appearance. On days when I want my eyes to look defined without piling on multiple makeup products, this is the kind of mascara I enjoy.

2. Clinique High Impact Volumizing Mascara

Then I reach for Clinique High Impact Volumizing Mascara when fuller-looking lashes are the priority. It has a more classic approach to creating noticeable volume, which makes it an easy companion for stronger eye looks. Rather than repeatedly brushing through the lashes, I prefer applying controlled coats.
Starting from the roots and moving upward helps distribute the formula along the lash line. I can add another layer to the outer lashes for extra drama while keeping the inner lashes lighter. A simple neutral eyeshadow paired with this mascara can already make my eyes feel much more defined.
Lancôme fits my lifted-lash days, while Clinique comes into play when I want a bolder volumizing effect. Neither needs an elaborate technique; the difference comes from how I apply and build the product. For me, mascara is proof that the smallest step can have a big influence on the finished makeup look. Some days call for fluttery definition, and others deserve a little more drama.
