Nail Care I Actually Use

I’ve realised that my nails usually look their best when I stop treating colour as the main event. The small steps before and after polish—repairing, smoothing and looking after the cuticles—make a much bigger difference than I expected.
These are the combinations I’ve been reaching for when I want my hands to look polished without turning the routine into a full salon session.

Repair and Smooth

Essie Good As New Nail Perfector and Leighton Denny Renovate Intensive Nail Repair Cream work well together when my nails look a little tired. I like the Essie perfector for making the nail surface look cleaner and more even without adding an obvious colour, while the Leighton Denny cream feels more like a conditioning step. I tend to use the cream around nails that feel dry or need extra attention, then reach for the perfector when I want that neat, healthy-looking finish. One is more about care, the other more about appearance, so together they make sense in the same routine.

Cuticle Care and Prep

Essie On-A-Roll Apricot Cuticle Oil and the clear nail treatment shown beside it cover the part of my routine I used to skip most often. The roll-on oil is especially convenient because I can apply it directly around the nail edges without making a mess, which makes me much more likely to use it regularly. The clear treatment works as a simple finishing or preparation step: I like this type of formula when I want the nail surface to look tidy on its own or when I’m getting ready to apply colour. Used together, they make my nails and cuticles look more polished without adding much extra time.

A Simple Two-Step Routine

What I like about both pairs is that each product has a different job. The first combination focuses more on smoothing and conditioning, while the second is all about keeping the cuticles neat and preparing the nail surface. I don’t need a complicated ten-step manicure routine to notice a difference. A few targeted products are usually enough for my hands to look cleaner, healthier and more put together.
