I have always found base makeup one of the most difficult parts of a routine. A foundation can look beautiful in the bottle but feel completely different once it sits on the skin for a few hours. Some formulas blend effortlessly and become part of your complexion, while others need more time and patience.
I recently tested three different types of base products: a foundation stick, a long-wear liquid foundation, and a hydrating skin tint. Each one creates a different effect, and it reminded me that the “perfect” base depends mostly on what kind of look I want that day.
1. Milk Makeup Foundation Stick
The first thing I noticed about the Milk Makeup Foundation Stick was the packaging. The stick format feels practical and easy to carry, especially for quick touch-ups or travel. I liked the idea of having a product that does not require many tools and can be applied directly onto the skin.
However, the formula needed more blending than I expected. Instead of melting into my complexion immediately, it took some extra effort to create an even finish. I think it would work better for someone who enjoys building coverage slowly and taking time with their base.
For my own routine, I usually prefer products that feel almost effortless, so this one was not the easiest match for everyday use.
2. L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation
This foundation felt like the most balanced option of the three. The lightweight liquid texture was easy to apply, and I liked how it created a smoother-looking complexion without feeling too heavy.
What stood out to me was the comfortable finish. It gave my skin a more polished appearance while still keeping a fresh look. This is the type of foundation I would choose for busy days, events, or whenever I want my makeup to stay in place while still looking natural.
It sits perfectly between everyday makeup and a more perfected finish, which makes it a versatile product to have in a collection.
3. Milani Glow Hydrating Skin Tint
The Milani Glow Hydrating Skin Tint gives a completely different feeling. Instead of creating a flawless base, it focuses more on adding freshness and a healthy-looking glow.
I liked that it feels lighter and more natural, making it a good option for relaxed makeup days when I only want to even out my skin slightly. It is the kind of product I would reach for on weekends or mornings when I want my routine to feel simple.
Of course, a skin tint will not provide the same coverage as a traditional foundation, but that is also what makes it appealing for anyone who prefers a more natural finish.
After trying all three products, I realised that the base I love most is not always the one with the highest coverage. The best formula is the one that fits my routine and makes getting ready easier. Some days need a long-lasting foundation, while others only need a little glow — and having options for both is what makes a makeup collection feel complete.
