Two Toners I Actually Use

I used to think toner was the easiest step to skip, but these two have completely changed how I see it. Some days my skin needs something soothing and uncomplicated, while on others I want a fresher, more awake-looking finish before the rest of my routine.
Clarins and Payot cover those two moods surprisingly well. They feel different on the skin, which is exactly why I like keeping both around.

Clarins Soothing Toning Lotion

The Clarins Soothing Toning Lotion is the one I reach for when my skin feels dry, sensitive or simply a little overwhelmed. It has a very light, watery texture that spreads easily without leaving any sticky layer behind.
The formula contains chamomile and saffron flower extracts, and the overall experience feels genuinely calming. I usually apply it after cleansing, either with my hands or a cotton pad, and my skin immediately feels softer and more comfortable.
What I appreciate most is how uncomplicated it feels. There is no heavy finish and no feeling that I have added another unnecessary layer to my routine. Instead, it works as a gentle transition between cleansing and serum or moisturiser.

Payot Nue Radiance-Boosting Toning Lotion

The Payot Nue Radiance-Boosting Toning Lotion feels more energising to me. I tend to use it when my complexion looks a little tired and I want my skincare routine to feel fresher from the beginning.
Its texture is also lightweight, but the effect feels slightly more revitalising. After application, my skin looks smoother and a little more refreshed, which makes it especially nice in the morning before moisturiser and makeup.
I also like using it on days when I want a simple routine but still want that extra polished, healthy-looking finish.

Which One I Prefer

I would not really choose one permanently over the other because they serve different purposes in my routine. Clarins is my comfort option when my skin needs calm and softness, while Payot is the one I pick when I want a fresher, brighter-looking complexion.
Having both means I can adjust this small step depending on how my skin feels that day, and that flexibility is exactly why toner has become something I no longer skip.
