The current lip trend is moving away from heavy matte formulas toward softer liner-and-gloss combinations that make lips look fuller without looking overdone.
I especially love muted rose shades because they work beautifully with everyday makeup while still giving the lips noticeable definition.

Soft Rose With Extra Definition

My first combination pairs SHU Cuties lip liner in shade 48 with KIKO Milano 3D Hydra Lipgloss in shade 31. The liner is slightly deeper and cooler than the gloss, which is exactly what makes this pairing interesting.
I like to trace the natural lip line first and slightly deepen the outer corners rather than filling the entire lip with pencil. This keeps the center lighter and prevents the finished look from becoming too heavy. The KIKO gloss then adds a soft rosy sheen that blends everything together.
What I like most about this combination is the contrast between the defined outline and the almost translucent glossy center. It gives me that fuller-looking lip effect without needing a dramatic overlined shape. The finish feels polished but still relaxed enough for daytime makeup.

A Softer Rosy Look

For a more delicate version of the same trend, I would pair SHIKSTUDIO Long-Lasting lip liner in shade 101 with the same KIKO Milano 3D Hydra Lipgloss in shade 31.
This pencil looks softer and closer to the natural rosy tone of the lips. Because there is less contrast between the liner and gloss, the result feels more blended and effortless. I would use this combination when I want my lips to look naturally enhanced rather than obviously lined.
The gloss becomes the main focus here. Its shine catches the light beautifully, while the muted pink liner adds just enough structure around the edges. I also like that the combination works particularly well with minimal eye makeup, fresh skin and softly brushed brows.

Which One I’d Choose

If I wanted stronger definition, I would choose the SHU Cuties 48 combination because the deeper outline creates more dimension. For a softer everyday rose lip, SHIKSTUDIO 101 would be my pick because it blends more seamlessly with the gloss.
For me, that versatility is exactly why the glossy rose lip trend works so well. I can keep the same gloss and completely change the mood simply by switching the liner.
